- Until you change something about yourself, your life won’t change. This needs to start as an inside job.
- Instead of trying to remove bad habits, incorporate more good habits. Easily and naturally, the bad ones will begin to drop away.
- Consider replacing a bad habit with a good habit. You’ve got a double dip there (sweet!)
- By improving habits in your life, it triggers to your inner Self that you are worthy and valuable.
- Sometimes all it takes to change your life is to change your mind.
- The thought of addressing things in our life we want to change may feel overwhelming – thus, we don’t even start. Most of us can do just about anything for just one day.
Guidelines
- Commit to it – at least for today.
- If it feels right, continue.
- If you can’t do it today yet desire it, write it down. This creates an internal agreement with your Self.
- Of course, none of these habits are required. However, if you want positive movement in your life, you need to get started (perhaps today is a good day).
- Search for meaning in the habit. If it creates drudgery versus inspiration, don’t do it.
- Make sure you are doing this for your Self and not for anyone else. If it is not for you, it will not stick and will cause resentment for the other.
- On the flip side, forcing someone to incorporate a habit for you will create the same resentment. Be content with being a good example for those you want to influence — and be prepared to be amazed.
- If today’s habit doesn’t sound interesting to you, then take a pass. However, if it is an idea that creates a visceral feeling in you (which could be either negative or positive), it is worthy of a closer look. That insight alone may contribute to growth. Perhaps this is something your soul really wants and your ego is avoiding it. Trust your gut.
